Building healthy communities through substance abuse prevention, wellness, and recovery support

Our youth are facing many unique challenges today in navigating the landscape of choices for healthy living. Students and youth are exposed to many substances and stressors at an earlier age. They are influenced by the social media, technology and their peers without fully understanding the consequences and impact these options or decisions will have on their health and future. Substance misuse and addiction is not on the forefront of their mind when experimenting with drugs and alcohol.

The Alliance has found that when we educate our youth, provide programs, tools, and continued support, the rate of youth addiction and teen suicide greatly declines. Many of us know someone or has been affected by addiction at some point in our lives. Many of us know how it impacts the whole family. We are making great strides in creating an environment for our youth in Oakland County that provides the education and resources to help keep these students on the right track so that they do not become a statistic. We couldn’t do this without your help.

Having consistent prevention programs and support in our schools and community is making a huge difference to many families. These students need somewhere to go if they get off track, and the Alliance is there for them. Your support makes it possible to have more people in the field and a safe place to get help, recovery direction and support. The Alliance is their anchor, and we help these families and students through the chaos. We provide the resources and support needed to navigate through the storm.

The Alliance relies 100 percent on philanthropy from individuals, corporations, and foundations to run, manage, and maintain programs that provide prevention education and recovery support efforts throughout Oakland County. You are part of the solution to reduce teen addiction, accidental overdose and teen suicide. We are so grateful for your support and generosity. Your gift today will make a difference for the youth and young adults in Oakland County.

The Alliance provided me with compassionate support, education and the resources I needed. Now, I am in living a life of purpose and am in long term recovery from my Substance Use Disorder. My family and I are so grateful to The Alliance and the donors that support these programs. I don’t know where I would be if I wasn’t fortunate enough to receive their services.

  • Cash Donation

Gifts made by cash, check or credit card and other property gifts provide the alliance with the support necessary to continue our mission. These gifts can be used immediately where there is greatest need or for a specific program that is designated.

  • Honor & Memorial Gifts

Honor and Memorial Gifts are thoughtful ways to mark a special occasion or honor the life or memory of a relative or friend. To make an honor or memorial gift, send your contribution and acknowledgment information (for notification purposes) to the Alliance.

Consider an Honor or Memorial Gift to celebrate or recognize an individual’s or group’s important milestone or event:

    • Births and Birthdays
    • Weddings and Anniversaries
    • Graduations and Retirements
    • Mother’s or Father’s Day
    • Life’s Successes and Joys (Good Luck, Best Wishes or Congratulations)
    • Illness (Get Well)
    • Times of Sympathy
    • Times of Appreciation (Thank You)

Your gift will be immediately acknowledged with a card sent to the honored person or group or the family member of a deceased. A personal message on the card will let them know that a thoughtful donation has been made in their name or the name of a loved one.

  • Corporate & Foundation Giving

Thank you for your interest in supporting the Alliance! The Alliance offers dynamic partnership opportunities, which include volunteer experiences and event sponsorships. Corporate involvement is essential and allows the Alliance to forward our mission of building healthy communities through substance abuse prevention, wellness, and recovery support.

There are several programs and events your company can become involved with:

    Corporate Donations

When your organization makes a donation to the Alliance, we offer you the flexibility to allocate your funds to a program that aligns with your company’s giving efforts. At the Alliance we build healthy communities through substance abuse prevention, wellness, and recovery. Corporations and foundations play a key role in the success of our programs. We rely on the generosity of our community business leaders to help fund our operations, capital needs, and staff to do the work in the Oakland County

    Sponsoring an Event

Event sponsorships provide companies with an opportunity to align with the Alliance’s mission and enhance reputation through high-visibility recognition. We offer an opportunity to participate in our signature fundraising events, which bring together some of the community’s most influential philanthropic leaders. These events offer a unique event experience and a variety of exclusive sponsorship opportunities.

    Employer Matching Programs

Matching employee contributions are an increasingly popular way to demonstrate support of your staff and the community, while encouraging employees to contribute to charitable organizations. When an employee makes a donation, the company's matching gift can double the impact of the contribution. Your company may offer a matching program.

Host a Fundraising Event or Jeans Day

Whether it’s hosting an event, donating a portion of proceeds from sales, or hosting an office-wide jeans day—there are many ways to use an event/promotion to engage your employees and raise money for the Alliance.

  • Gift Planning / Estate Giving

Making gifts for the benefit of others is an excellent way to affirm your values and priorities. You can designate your gift to a specific program. Your gift can also be unrestricted and used where needed most. Planning your gift to The Alliance may stretch the value of your donation, enabling you to do more than you think possible. An estate gift may also benefit you and your family: your tax savings may be increased.

    • A Bequest in a Will or Trust stipulates that an amount or a percentage of your estate will be given to the Alliance after your lifetime. Your bequest can be designated to a specific program or it can be unrestricted and used where needed most.

    • Life-income Gifts provide income to a donor and/or another individual age 60 or older. At the end of the beneficiary’s lifetime, the remainder is given to the Alliance.

    • A Gift of Retirement Fund Assets is a specific use of funds that would be heavily taxed if given to an individual—up to 85 percent. After your lifetime, the remainder of your retirement fund can be assigned to the Alliance as a designated or unrestricted gift.

    • A Gift of Life Insurance from a past policy no longer needed because of the death of the original beneficiary or a newly created policy can benefit the Alliance in many ways.

    • Charitable Lead Trusts provide income to the Alliance over a set number of years and then transfer assets to children or other individual(s) named by the donor. This plan enables heirs to receive assets while minimizing taxes.

    • Gifts of Appreciated Assets, such as stocks, bonds and mutual fund shares, that have increased in value are another way of giving to the Alliance. The donor receives an itemized income tax deduction for the full current value and also avoids tax on the increase in value. For information on how to manage a stock transfer, contact the Alliance and we will provide transfer details.
